Without a doubt,the Internet is changing all our lives. In fact,
before long,we won't be able to live without it.
Since January l,one man in Dallas, Texas has been trying to demonstrate that we
can actually live by the Internet.
If we are on-line, he believes,we need never again go to any kind of shop or store,
to the library or a movie theater,to a game center, or what have you.


The man's
name is Mitch Maddox,or it used to be, until he had it legally
changed to DotComGuy a few months ago. DotComGuy has
locked himself into his house and plans to spend the entire year there.


Everything he needs he gets from the Web. He shops and
pays all his bills on-line.
If he gets sick, he e-mails his doctor and
asks him to make a house call.
And every move he makes is being
caught on camera and broadcast on the Web. Why is he doing this?
DotComGuy sees his project as mostly educational.

"I want to show the average person the power of the Internet, "he says.
So far, the idea seems to be a hit.
Every day, surfers from around the
world visit his Web site and chat with him. And DotComGuy has
attracted a long list of business sponsors to help him finance his
year of“living by the Internet."
