Ena Valley (恵那峡) comes highly recommended to nature lovers who want to enjoy a relaxing rendezvous with the great outdoors that doesn't compromise on beautiful riverfront scenery.
The location is well known for its autumn foliage in mid to late November, but sees a fair number of cherry blossom viewers during early spring and is also a popular spot for bird watching in the winter months. The annual fireworks festival held in late July also draws a significant crowd. All in all, Ena Valley is one of the best places in southern Gifu to enjoy the splendor of the seasons.
A ride in one of the pleasure boats is sure to make your trip that much more enjoyable. Visitors have a choice between a 30 minutes cruise on a modern jet-boat and an hour long cruise in a traditional Japanese house boat. If you're running low on time, the jet boat is your best option, but if you're not rushed and you want to enjoy the scenery and open air over a bite to eat, the house boat is the way to go!
