Even though its unusually hot weather, we are playing tennis 4~5 times a week.
We are Diehard tennis players.
Even though we play tennis so often, there is no or very little improvement.
We are hopeless.

So far I’m doing well under this heat weave, but I cannot regulate my body temperature well.
It must be caused by Menopause.
I sweat heavily; it’s not only during playing tennis, also during the sleep even though A/C is on.
I’m drinking a lot of icy cold water which is not good for my stomach, but when I drink warm tea, my whole body sweat like taking a shower.

　
Our dogs look happier being lazy inside house than running outside.
They had their annual checkup.
They got tick bites and Duke got Anaplasmosis and Duchess is positive for Lyme disease.
(Duke was diagnosed positive to Lyme twice before.)
I’m putting it year around, but the vet says shampoo washes it away; it won’t wash away by water though.
I was washing them once a week and put frontline once a month.
So now on, I shampoo them and put “Frontline plus” every 3 weeks.

They don’t have ANY symptoms of infection, but they are on Antibiotics for one month.
I wrap the pills in sliced cheese, if I don’t make their jaws upward, Duke spits out the pill after finish eating cheese.
He wants me to give him more cheese.

Duke planted evidence of (his) mischief that is typical of Duchess’ handiwork; Duchess was smart: she stayed with me so the only possible culprit was Duke.
John says,” Duke is too cunning. He is not a normal dog.”
John favors Duchess now and giving more treat ONLY to Duchess.
I have to feed her less, otherwise she will gets fat again!!
Anyway, both of them successfully lost weight compare to last year’s checkup.

Duke is 18.20lb (last year 22.70lb)
Duchess is 17.60lb (last year 18.60lb)

　

　

先月末、シアトルへ行ってきました。
ジェニーがシアトルからルクセンブルクへ引越し、
エミはロサンジェルスからシアトルへと引っ越しました。
今回泊まったホテルでは
クリーニング・タオル交換を希望しない日は
５ドルの食事割引券を貰えます。
洗剤や水を無駄にしないエコフレンドリーで
宿泊客にもお得なアイデアですね。

さて例年になく寒かったシアトルから猛暑のニューヨークへ戻ってきて
夏バテする暇もなく（？）テニス三昧の毎日です。
テニスは大体夜の６時から始まって
テニスの後のお喋りが長引いて毎晩夜遅くの帰宅。
こんなに毎日のようにテニスをしているのに
全然上達しないのですからね～。
下手の横好き・・・

夏バテはしていないのですが
更年期障害の所為か体温の調節が上手くいかずに
テニスの最中は勿論、冷房が聞いている室内でも
身体が火照って汗ビッショリ。
水分補給の為に飲んでいる氷水はお腹に良くないみたいですね～。
と言って、温かいお茶を飲むと全身シャワーを浴びたように発汗するし・・・

猛暑でアジリティーのクラスはキャンセルが続いています。
Dukeたちも暑い外より家中でまったりしている方が良さそうです。

DukeとDuchの定期検診で
二匹ともが鹿ダニによる病気に罹っていました。
Dukeは以前に二回もライム病（Lyme disease)
検査で陽性だったのですが
今回はアナプラズマ病(Anaplasmosis)。
Duchは初めてのライム病。

フロントライン・プラスを一年中毎月欠かさずに犬に点けているのに・・・
獣医の話では水に濡れても大丈夫ですが
シャンプーが薬を洗い流してしまっているらしいです。

今後は毎週のシャンプーを三週間ごとにして
その度に薬を点けます。

二匹とも病気の症状は全くないのですが
抗生物質剤を一日二回一ヶ月飲ませています。
私は錠剤をチーズに包んで食べさせているのですが
アゴを上に向けて確実に飲み込ませないと
Dukeはチーズだけ食べて上手に錠剤を吐き出します。
もっと、私からチーズを貰おうと、
わざと錠剤を私の目の前に落とします。

Dukeは悪さをDuchがしたように計画的に犯すので
ジョンは「こいつは普通の犬じゃない。知能犯だ！！」と
Dukeを毛嫌いしてDuchにばかりオヤツを与えています。
これではDuchが又デブになってしまいますね。

まぁ、今回の検診では二匹とも減量に成功していました。
