 It is not harvest time for blueberries yet at Fishkill Farmer which is one of biggest farmer around area. People from far away only could enjoy the picnic at the farm; I felt sorry for them.  Even the oil price has dropped recently, the price of farm products just soars in the bad harvest.
   We have been enjoying the relatively cool summer weather. We had gorgeous days over the Independence Day weekends The law prohibiting fireworks isn't stopping people from using them in New York. Many people drove to Pennsylvania to buy fireworks. There are lots of noises from daytime to the middle of the night at our neighborhood. Sometimes the sounds are a nuisance to the neighbors... Wild animals and pets are frightened by the explosives sounds. Our dogs had gotten excited, too. Duke was not scared at all as he ran toward the sound. Duchess stayed by our front door while Indy found shelter under a chair.  When they stared at each other, it becomes explosive; the fight can be triggered off by almost anything. Duke stays away from the 2 bitches (literally, means a female dog) when they flight.（http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bitch?show=0&t=1309978303） He avoids doing anything that would upset the bitches. He doesn’t take side of either of them. He understands the concept of neutrality in the true spirit of self-preservation. He doesn’t want to be their leader. Although he barks at cars/joggers/guests and humps on Duchess all the time, he is a peace-loving dog.  我が家の林檎もペッパーも野生のベリーも 今年も順調に育っていますが この付近の農作物は 涼しかった春、多雨の初夏の影響でか 不作なようです。 先週末は ミルブロークのファーマーズ・マーケットも 野菜を売っているスタンドは一つだけでした。 この近郊で最大規模の農園フィッシュキル・ファーマーでも ブルーベリーは未だ収穫時期ではなく 遠方からブルーベリー狩りに訪れていた客たちも ピクニックを楽しむしかすることが無かったようです。 折角オイルが値下がりしてきているのに こう不作では農作物の値段は高騰するばかりですね。 この一週間、気持ちのよい天候に恵まれて アメリカ独立記念日の休日を利用して ドライブ旅行を楽しんだ人が多かったようです。 ケイはロングアイランドのビーチに住んでいる友人宅で 週末を楽しみ何箇所かで花火を見たそうです。 独立記念日には全国で花火が楽しめます。 ニューヨーク市やボストンのような大都市での 大掛かりな花火は勿論、 個人使用の花火が禁止されているニューヨーク州でも ペンシルバニア州で売られている花火を購入して 自宅で打ち上げ楽しむ人達が多くいます。 昼間から夜中まで止まない騒音が近所迷惑なことも確かです。 野生の動物は勿論のことペット達も この爆音に怯えて可哀想ですね。 我が家の犬達も興奮していました。 Dukeは怖くないのか爆音に向かって行こうとしました。 （若しかして花火を見たかった？） Duchは玄関から離れようとはせず エミのIndyは椅子の下に隠れていました。 IndyとDuchは臆病なのに「ボス」になりたがります。 この二匹が横目での睨みあいをはじめたら一触即発。 チョッとした事で喧嘩が始まります。 Dukeはどちらの味方もせずに 雌犬たちが嫌がることは極力避けて 二匹に近寄らないようにしています。 我が家唯一の雄犬なのに 自分がリーダーになろうという気は全くないようです。 家の前を通る車、ジョガーや訪問客には攻撃的に吠えるし 毎日のようにDuchにマウンティングをしているけど 基本的には平和主義なようです。  お気に入りの記事を「いいね！」で応援しよう
