２０１７年５月３日、カワセミの池で周りの人たちと話をしていると、そこから歩いて１時間の地域に、ムナグロが来ているとの情報があり、早速行ってみました。具体的な場所が分からず、色々と歩き回りましたが、結局見つけることができず、家に帰ることにしました。
田んぼのそばを歩いていると、偶然にもムナグロが１羽いるのに気づき、すぐにカメラのシャッターを押しました。灰色や白の模様が特徴的でした。
その近くの田んぼにも数羽のムナグロがいました。こちらは胸が完全に黒色で、「ムナグロ」という名前の由来が良く分かりました。すぐに飛び立ったので、少ししか見ることができませんでした。
本によると、赤道近くの地域で越冬し、夏はシベリヤやアラスカで子育てをするそうです。北に飛行する途中で日本に寄り、田んぼで食べ物を探したのでしょう。
私が妻にムナグロの説明をするとき、間違えてノドグロと言うと、妻は「それは魚」と言って笑っていました。

On May 3rd, 2017, when I talked with some bird-watchers at a pond where kingfishers
live, they gave me useful information that Pacific golden plovers visited the distant area
one hour walking by foot, then I moved there.
As I got no specific information, I roamed around there. After I gave up, on the way
back home, luckily I found it out at a rice field. It spotted white, black and gold on the
body.
I could see the others thereby, their breast is completely black so that I understood why
they called "Munaguro" in Japanese or the meaning of "Black breast". 　They flied off
soon.
According to some books, they spend a winter near equatorial area, fly to Siberia and
Alaska in spring, Japan is a stopping point for them, migratory birds.
Whey I explain "Munaguro" to my wile, I sometimes mistake to say "Nodoguro" or the
meaning of "Black throat".　And she said with a laugh " Nodoguro is not a bird but a fish !".
