50代エンジニアの逆襲

昨日の朝日新聞(P.38)に、皇太子さまが米国の教育学者ドロシー・ロー・ノルトの「子ども」という詩を紹介していた。これは、私が以前本日記に紹介していたものとよく似ている。非常に良い詩なので再度紹介する。なお、この詩がのっている訳本は、現在１万部以上の増刷を行っている。出版社にとって創立以来初めてのことらしい。

１．詩の紹介

（１）「子ども」

　批判ばかりされた子どもは非難することをおぼえる

　殴られて大きくなった子どもは力にたよることをおぼえる

　笑いものにされた子どもはものを言わずにいることをおぼえる

　皮肉にさらされた子どもは鈍い良心の持ち主となる

　しかし、激励をうけた子どもは自信をおぼえる

　寛容であったこともは忍耐をおぼえる

　賞賛をうけた子どもは評価するこをおぼえる

　フェアプレーを経験した子どもは公正をおぼえる

　友情を知る子どもは親切をおぼえる

　安心を経験した子どもは信頼をおぼえる

　可愛がられ抱きしめられた子どもは世界中の愛情を感じとることをおぼえる

３．毎日少しでも英語日記

Whenever reading this poetry, I come to think of my attitude to my family. Don't I speak something with criticism or hostility? Did I teach my son a sprit of tolerance? Did I teach my son an encouragement to do something? Did I praise my son for good things at every time? They say, we can see one's parents when seeing his child. Oh, my!
