*P.S.=Public School -- January 23, 2009 Dear Parents, As you know, P.S.123 is committed to the academic achievement of all students. It is our goal to provide students with every available resource to support and facilitate their academic success. Conversely, poor attendance is one of the most significant indicators of potential risk. Chancellor's Regulations regarding attendance states, "Parents are expected to submit a note or letter explaining their child's absence from school. A note from a doctor or health-care professional should be provided in cases of extended or frequent absence due to illness. If students have been absent from school for reasons other than illness, documentation of the reason for the absence is to be presented to the school." Remember, regular attendance is critical to successful achievement in school. Thank you for your cooperation concerning this matter.
