An evening glow
To open my arms
Like a swan's wings

Keep saying good-by
Deep in my heart alone
The evening glow

A cicada falls
I keep standing the way
Bad luck the day

Under blazing sun
What difference does it make
If heaven-hell be?

An insect cage
Single firefly
Hangs under the eaves

Hydrangea
Blue of it becomes denser
Rainy Tokyo

Summer festival---
Girls, boys in 'kimono'
Fours, threes, or fives

A monstrous whale
Illusion wriggles, wriggles---
It's the dark night

As I look back
Autumn steps quietly
An aster blossoms

In broad sunshine
Cicadas chirp all at once
Oh summer has come!

A sunflower
Which streched oneself higher
'Tis rocking in breezes

Underneath the crescent
Is there, or not, a gate
Which I should visit?

A distant thunder
I remember my
first love......seventeen

A distant thunder
The mementos of youth
are almost bitter

The lightning flashes
and shine on inmost
thoughts of you'nd I

Don't forget that's
caused by the leader's dull sleep;
Huge flames flower

The spirits of our
ancestors leave only one votive
egg-apple on the altar(*)

(*) (Note): In japanese tradition of buddhist's memorial service for their ancestors, in summer, called Bon or Obon and also Urabon-e, they prepare an altar with meny offerings, --flowers cakes, fruits, vegetables, and candles, paper lanterns. Among those offerings, there are a cucumber with four short sticks imitated a horse and an egg-apple imitated a cow that the spirits of ancestors use them to carry the offerings when the spirits return to the heven. And when the Bon has finished the buddhist lets flow the offerings to a river or to the sea.

The summer festival
Flowery hair ornaments
swing like big waves

My old mother
returned from the grave
The hair is white

Fruit of trees, still green
But, it's coming up autumn;
the cold hidding in the air

The wind has blown;
fallen down the pampas grass
A shrine appears

The moon overflowes
from the cup of 'sake';
alone in a rural inn

Suddenly, a hawk tears
azure of sky into shreds
without sound

A long long way !
It leads to saffron cloud
Autumnal sky

A cotton candy
It's like light snow
--- melted my childhood

The deceased person's garden
is as quiet as ever
in the rain of autumn

A wild grapes !
its purple charm so deepens
keeps herself secret

A white parasol ---
It flares like a filament of air,
disappears no one knows where

The evening sun sinks
shining one's right ear
in a moment

I wrote a letter,
tore up, threw away it
--- the wind of autunm

Each's unlike a bit
but makes self to be round
A bunch of grapes !

A cold raindrop
falls to my back of neck
I feel early autumn
