花見友紀の「鉄道のある日常」

11日、秩父鉄道秩父本線で運行された臨時列車「幸せの黄色い機関車 ELロウバイ号」に乗った。

長瀞駅最寄りの宝登山の山頂周辺でロウバイの花が見頃になっているこの時期に因んで、熊谷駅～長瀞駅間で運行された。普段はSL「パレオエクスプレス」に使用されている12系客車を、2016（平成28）年に黄色茶色帯塗装に塗り直されたことから、「幸せの黄色い機関車」と呼ばれている電気機関車（EL）のデキ500形502号機が牽引した。運行ダイヤは「パレオエクスプレス」と同じものであった。

熊谷駅へ来た列車は5番線に到着、僕を含めた多くの鉄道ファンや観光客に迎えられた。ホームには秩父鉄道の「鉄道むすめ」桜沢みなのちゃんに扮したコスプレイヤーさんが登場し、黄色いELと共に撮り鉄に囲まれていた。

発車時刻が近づき、客車の車内に入ると、ほぼ満席だった。SL「パレオエクスプレス」は乗車に整理券が必要であるが、この「ELロウバイ号」は整理券不要の列車として運行された。このため「パレオエクスプレス」の時には見られないデッキに立っている乗客の姿も見られた。

最後尾車両の一番後ろの座席には、みなのちゃんのイラストが描かれたパネルが展示されていた。



10:10、列車は定時に熊谷駅を発車し、ELの起動加速時特有の揺れが客車まで伝わってきた。僕にとってはELが牽引する客車列車に乗ること自体が初めてであるため、この感覚は意外にも新しいものだった。

列車はゆったりとしたスピードで長瀞駅へと向けて動き出した。熊谷駅から2駅目の石原駅を通過後、車内にBGMが鳴り、観光案内のアナウンスが流れた。声の主は、秩父市出身で、日本テレビ「笑点」の大喜利メンバーでもある落語家の林家たい平さん。林家たい平さんの声によるアナウンスは、SL「パレオエクスプレス」で流れており、今回はEL列車仕様のものが使用された。長瀞駅までの道中、駅の発車後と到着前を中心に、地元の観光名所、イベント、名産品がアナウンスで紹介された。

同じ頃、車内販売とみなのちゃん役のコスプレイヤーさんによる乗車記念証の配布が始まった。車内販売では、この日から全国30の鉄道事業者とトミックスワールド大宮で始まったスタンプラリーイベント「つなげて!全国鉄道むすめ巡り」のグッズであるアクリルフィギュアとミニスタンプのセット（車内販売で買うと「SLチョコレートケーキ」とみなのちゃんからのメッセージカードも貰えた）や、みなのちゃんのイラストがパッケージに描かれた「さくらカステラ」「さくらマドレーヌ」等が売られた。

車窓に目を移すと、大麻生駅周辺や永田駅周辺といった撮影スポットには多くの撮り鉄がカメラを構えていた。

寄居駅では9分間停車し、後続の三峰口行き各停列車に先に道を譲る。各停列車で長瀞駅へ先回りして、この「ELロウバイ号」を撮影しようとも考えたが、このまま長瀞駅まで「ELロウバイ号」に乗っていくことにした。

寄居駅から1駅目の波久礼駅を通過し、進行方向から見て左側の車窓に玉淀湖が見えると長瀞駅までの道のりはあと少し。左側に荒川、右側に秩父の山々を見ながら列車は走る。

秩父の山並みを背景にした写真を撮ろうと、波久礼駅～長瀞駅間の車窓にも撮り鉄の姿が目立った。この中には長瀞駅先ほど寄居駅で各停列車に乗り換えて先回りしていた撮り鉄もいたことだろう。

11:26、列車は定時で終点、長瀞駅に到着。長瀞駅では「パレオエクスプレス」も発着する3番線に入線した。



乗客が一斉にホームに降り立ち、無事に終点に到着した列車を撮影した。みなのちゃん役のコスプレイヤーさんも車内に置かれていたみなのちゃんパネルを抱えてホームに降り、熊谷駅の時と同様にデキ502号機の横に立った。



このあとデキ502号機・12系客車・は回送列車として秩父・三峰口方面に向かって走り出した。

駅の外に出てみると、クリアファイルやコースター等、みなのちゃんのイラストを使用した新作グッズの販売、通常は1番線ホームに置いてある「つなげて!全国鉄道むすめ巡り」のスタンプ台の出張設置などのイベントが催されていた。僕もスタンプを押してきた。


On 11th, I travelled with "EL Roubai (Wintersweet)" between Kumagaya Station and Nagatoro Station on Chichibu Railway Chichibu Main Line operated by 12 Series passenger car, which is mainly in service as "Paleo Express", hauled by Class Deki 500 electric locomotive 502 whose body was yellow-coloured and which was called "EL giving people happiness" because the body colour looked like wintersweet blossoms, mainly for people watching the blossoms planted on Mt. Hodo. The train operated on the same timetable as "Paleo Express".

As the train dropping into Kumagaya Station, people on platform welcomed it and started to shoot it with a femail crew wearing Minano Sakurazawa, a "Tetsudou-musume" character collaborated with Chichibu Railway, costume standing on the platform near the EL.

Minano was painted side boards shown near doors.

Getting onto the passenger car, almost of all seatings were occupied and some passengers stood on aisle or doorways passengers didn't need an additional fee for seating unlike "Paleo Express".

At 10:10 AM, the train departed on time and ran at low speed. When the train started to run, I felt a pitching, which could occur from haul by EL. It was quite different from what I have felt when riding on electric car or diesel car because it was first time to travel with EL-hauled train.

Passing Ishihara Station, I heard an announcement for tourist information, which was by Taihei Hayashiya, a rakugo performer born in Chichibu City, one of the cities that Chichibu Main Line passes, and one of seven performers appearing on "Shoten" TV show. During the way to Nagatoro, the announcements were done several time and introduced sightseeing spots, local products, and events.

At the almost same time as the first Hayashiya's announcement, wagon service and handover of a special card by the femail crew started. Wagon service sold plastic panel and small-sized stamp that Minano was pictured for "Tsunagete Zenkoku Tetsudou-musume Meguri" stamp rally event in which 30 Japanese railway companies and TOMIX World Omiya joined, accompanying a piece of chocolate cake and a message card, and pieces of confection with Minano's illustration, as well as vebarages and snacks.

Looking out the view from the window, I saw that lots of photographers setting their camera stood along the railway, especially around Oaso Station and Nagata Station.

At Yorii Station, the train stopped for nine minutes to wait a following local train coming and going ahead. I felt I wanted to transfer the local train to go ahead and to photograph the train coming to Nagatoro, but I decided to keep travelling with the same train.

Passing Hagure Station, one after Yorii, I got a view of Lake Tamayodo and Arakawa River to the left and Chichibu Mountains to the right.

On the way to Nagatoro, I saw photngraphers who could shoot a picture of the train against the mountains. Some of them might be those who transferred to the local train at Yorii Station.

The train arrived at Nagatoro terminal at 11:26 and stopped at track 3, where "Paleo Express" also stops. Getting off the train, I also photographed the train from the platform like at Kumagaya.

The femail crew appeared again, but this time she carried and held Minano's cut-out.

The train departed to go toward Chichibu or Mitsumineguchi as an out-of-service train.

Going out of the station, some newly-created goods with Minano's illustration were sold and a full-sized stamp for the event, which was put on a platform as usual, specially prepared. Of course, I got it.
