Gartner said the rise of android provides lower smartphone prices.

"From 2015, 67 per cent of all open os devices will have an average value of $300 or below, proving that smartphones one the market have been finally truly democratized, gartner large analyst roberta cozza said.

"As vendors delivering android devices continue to fight for share of the market, price will decrease the strain benefit consumers, cozza agreed.

"Android's position at the (click here) high end of the market will stay strong, but its greatest volume opportunity in the longer term will be in the mid to low mobile phone handsets, most especially in emerging markets, she says.
