Again: Take The Power Back
-Rage Against The Machine again? No. All I'd like to -or I can mention about upcoming winter Olympic game is a prayer for safety for athletes and staffs from all the participant countries, including our country. I'd like to place NOT about Olympic game but one of the ski jumpers from our country. When she went on to high school, she chose an international school, not a high school of general course.Reportedly, she had plans of her own to acquire English skill as an international athlete, and to pass high school equivalence test so that she could finish high school curriculum designated by Ministry of Education and become full-time ski jumper.Actually, she passed the high school equivalence test in four month, and later, entered a physical education college early. As I confessed, as a teenager, I decided that school is a place to study for academic record and knowledge. But actually, I made a mistake to plunge into study to get away from botheration of relationships, and studying became purpose. I might have had options to go to other high school with unit-based system or take high school equivalence test instead of sitting through general high-school, but back then, no one including me had such idea.I confess I envy teenagers nowadays because they have options to go to specialty schools with high school diploma course to learn what they are interested in, such as music, foreign language, beauty treatment.-Although as a teacher's daughter, I wouldn't have been allowed such options. To gain high school diploma without going to high school of general course, at least you must not be passive. As for Ski-jumper mentioned above, reportedly, she studied more than eleven hours every day for high school equivalence test.-No wonder; she has a clear aim to succeed as an athlete -what an amazing great hard worker she is!Because of my job, I've met younger high-school-graduate workers. In our country, many of white-collar workers are collage-graduates, but there are a few young high-school-graduates around me who work as office clerks and sales staffs. When I talked with them, I felt that we might be able to make our living more certainly to acquire practical business or technical skills in high school than going to high-school of lukewarm general course.-I've read that there is education system like this in Germany, where children have to decide their future at junior-high-school age.In that case, children need to think of what to do in the future, job and life, at least from junior high school.-Am I missing something? Well, under obvious academic-oriented society, not only in getting first job as a new graduate but also in taking up different employment, high-school-graduates can be disadvantaged than college-graduates.When it comes to special profession like doctor and lawyer, things are different, though. Then again, the same question -what is the significance of school after all? Other countries aside, in our country.Only students who adopt themselves to standardization education -is the purpose of education in our country?Am I questioning obvious and fundamental things at this late date? Not only what to and how to teach; As is already pointed out, narrow and closed world called school is hotbed of bullies -both among students and between teachers and students.A schoolgirl with brown hair by nature was compelled to dye her hair black from school. This issue spread abnormity of standardization education in our country worldwide.Sometimes, questions and repels against such oppression can be sublimated into creativity, though. At the same time... it's cruel to demonize teachers at actual site -Except for problem teachers like hysterical teacher in my third grade, teachers who commit violation and sexual harassment. They are already overworking. Recently, teacher is unattractive as occupation and less and less young people are willing to be teachers. This problem is not only in our country -but that sounds convincing.-I cannot afford to expand the composition about it today, though.◆:Ready to place summery if asked
