Greek Mythology　 Hermes and Crocus

Hermes, the god of commerce, invention, and theft, who also served as the messenger for the gods in Greek mythology, had a fiancée named Crocus.

One day, they were dating on the crest of a hill, and enjoyed riding a sled together.

When Crocus rode the sled alone, suddenly a strong wind blew, and she fell into the bottom of the hill and died on the spot.

Hermes was shocked and wept over her death.
Having lost Crocus, Hermes was overwhelmed with grief.

On the following year, Hermes went back to the place where Crocus died, and there found a lovely flower.

He named the flower Crocus promptly.

ギリシャ神話で　産業、発明、盗みの神であり、神々への伝令役でもあるヘルメスは、
クロッカスという名の婚約者がいました。

ある日　彼らは、丘の頂上で　デートをし、一緒にそりに乗って楽しい時間を過ごしていました。

クロッカスが一人でソリに乗った時、突然　強い風が吹き、クロッカスは谷底におちて即死しました。

彼は、ショックを受け、クロッカスの死をなげき悲しみ、彼女に死なれてすっかり悲嘆に暮れていました。

翌年、ヘルメスが　クロッカスが命を落とした処に行ってみると、そこに一輪の愛らしい花が咲いていました。

ヘルメスは、即座にその花をクロッカスと名づけました。
