This morning I was horrified to hear the terrible news.

"Virginia Tech Shooting Leaves 33 Dead"

It reminds me of the Columbine High attack in 1999, which I remember I was terribly shocked at, when I was in Jr.High..
In that time, two students of the highschool killed 14 people, including themselves.
Now, the criminal killed at least thirty-three people, which, as far as I know, is the greatest number of campus shooting victims.

I can't understand why the history repeats itself.
Why people do the same things with no regret?
Of course, I can't easily say I blame these cases on the gun society, but something is going wrong in people's mingds all over the world.

今朝起きて、悲惨なニュースにぞっとしました。

「ヴァージニア工科大学で銃乱射、３３人死亡」

このニュースを見て、1999年に起こったコロンバイン高校襲撃事件を思い出しました。当時僕は中学生、かなりのショックを受けたのを覚えています。
そのときは、同高校の生徒二人が、自らを含め１４人を殺害。
今回、犯人は少なくとも３３人もの命を奪っています。確か知っている限りでは、最大の犠牲者だったと思います。

なぜ歴史は繰り返すのでしょうか。
なぜ人々は後悔もせず同じことを繰り返すのでしょうか。
もちろん、簡単に銃社会のせいにしてしまうことはできません。でも世界中で、人々の歯車が狂っているような気がします
