巨人は２８日、元阪神のジョージ・アリアス内野手（３４）＝１８０センチ、８６キロ、右投げ右打ち＝との契約が合意に達したと発表した。今季いっぱいの契約で、同内野手は７月上旬にも来日する。背番号は「９１」。小久保のけがもあり、巨人は右の長距離打者の獲得に乗り出していた。外野を守らせる可能性もある。

　アリアスは日本（オリックス、阪神）で２００４年まで５年間プレーし、通算１５９本塁打、４３１打点をマーク。今季はメキシカンリーグのティフアナで８０試合に出場して、打率２割７分２厘、１９本塁打、７１打点の成績を残している。

The giant announced that the contract with Georgia ria shoreline infielder (34) in former Hanshin had reached agreement on the 28th.
