とんぼをおいかけて・・ ～♪～

ゴーヤに虫が付きました。Green worms were found on our bitter melons.


ずいぶん苦いと思うんですけれど、しっかり実を食べてしまっています・・(涙)。
It must taste pretty bitter, but the worms do eat and spoil the fruits. . . (sob).


今年、この虫を捕まえて飼育しました。We caught and raised the worms this year.


やがて出てきたのは、幅２.５センチ、体長１.５センチほどの蛾。ワタヘリクロノメイガです。尾の先にある毛の束のようなものが左右にうごめいて・・、いやぁ、気持ち悪い～！

They turned out to be moths called cucumber moth, or Diaphania indica, approximately 1.5 cm in length and 2.5 in width. The hairy tuft-like object on the end of the abdomen moves side to side. . . . Oh gee, so creepy!
