Big Ben in London

■ Big BenBig Ben is a clock tower located in London, England, and is officially known as the "Elizabeth Tower." The name "Big Ben" originally referred to the large bell inside the tower, but over time, it became associated with the entire tower.The Elizabeth Tower was completed in 1859. It was designed by William A. Banks, and the clock and bell were constructed by George Elliott.The tower was originally constructed as part of the British Houses of Parliament and was completed during the reign of Queen Victoria. The large bell, known as Big Ben, weighs around 13 tons and produces a powerful sound, making it widely recognized as a symbol of London. The tower itself stands at about 96 meters tall, and at its top, there are four large clock faces. Each clock face has a diameter of about 7 meters, and the clocks are known for their intricate design and precision.Today, Big Ben is one of the most iconic tourist destinations in London, attracting many visitors from around the world due to its historical significance and beautiful design. It is also a symbol of British culture and history, and its chimes are famously heard during important events such as the New Year's countdown.Big Ben is more than just a clock tower; it stands as an important symbol embodying British culture and history, cherished globally.Nikon D850 ／ AF-S Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8D IF-ED ／ f/5.6 ／ 1/80sec ／ ISO1000 ／ -1.7■ Taking photosI waited for the sunset at St. Thomas' Riverside Garden, which is across Westminster Bridge, in order to capture Big Ben bathed in the evening glow. Since I visited at the end of May, sunset was around 9 PM, so I needed to waite quite a while to get the perfect evening shot. In the park, there were orange poppies in bloom, and I was able to take a beautiful photo of the poppies with Big Ben in the background. After the sun had set, I used a tripod to capture a beautiful shot of Big Ben and Westminster Bridge, illuminated at night. Just across the Westminster Bridge from Big Ben, along the River Thames, there are several excellent spots for photography. ■ Shinjuku GyoenShinjuku Gyoen was made in 1906 as an imperial garden, it was re-designated as a national garden after the Second World War and opened to the public. Cosmos in Showa Memorial Park（昭和記念公園）

■ Showa Memorial Park Showa Memorial Park is a large urban park located in Tachikawa, Tokyo, and opened in 1977. This park was created to commemorate the 50th year of Showa Emperor, and is characterized by its vast grounds and natural surroundings (about 180 hectares, one of the largest parks in Tokyo). Showa Memorial Park is easily accessible from the center of the city, yet is surrounded by a rich natural environment. You can enjoy the changes in flowers and nature throughout the seasons, such as cherry blossoms in spring, fireworks and fountains in summer, autumn leaves and cosmos in autumn, and illuminations in winter. The autumn leaves are particularly spectacular. There is also a Japanese garden. It is attractive for its quiet beauty and calm atmosphere, and there is also a teahouse where you can experience the tea ceremony. The park is very large, so you can cycle around the park. Bicycle rentals are also available. The bicycle path is well maintained, so you can enjoy cycling comfortably. There are also plenty of play equipment for children, and a large grassy area. It is a great place to visit with your family. Showa Memorial Park is a place where you can spend time actively enjoying nature, and many events are held there throughout the year. It is famous for its flowers, which can be seen especially in autumn. Cosmos is native to Mexico and was introduced to Japan during the Meiji period. Cosmos flowers are characterized by various colors (especially pink, white, and purple) and petal shapes, and the way they sway in the wind is beautiful.Cosmos generally grow tall, and the flowers are about 5 to 10 cm in diameter and have 8 to 10 petals. They mainly bloom from summer to autumn and are especially popular in September and October.They are easy to grow and are suitable for creating landscapes in gardens and parks, making them a popular plant. Cosmos is also resistant to drought and can be grown with relatively little care. When the sunlight is soft in the early morning or evening and the shadows are long, the flowers will shine with morning dew, and the warm light at dusk will create a nice atmosphere. Pu'u o Kila Lookout (Hawaiian island of Kauai)

■ Pu'u o Kila Lookout Pu'u o Kila Lookout is a beautiful lookout on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. The site is known for its spectacular views of Hanalei Bay and its surroundings. The lookout is located near the access point to Kauai's Na Pali Coast and offers spectacular views of the mountains and ocean.Pu'u o Kila Lookout overlooks the steep cliffs, lush mountains, and ocean of the Na Pali Coast. On a clear day, you can see the beautiful coastline as far as the eye can see.Kauai is also known as the "roof of the Hawaiian Islands," and the mountain range in the middle has a large influence on the amount of precipitation. Pu'u o Kila Lookout is located in the northern part of Kauai, in an area with relatively high precipitation. Pu'u o Kila Lookout receives a lot of precipitation throughout the year, and is often hit by rain and fog, especially in the winter. If you visit, check the weather and aim for a sunny day to enjoy the beautiful scenery.■ Olympus E-P2This is my second digital camera after Nikon D1X. I bought it soon after its release in December 2009 and took many photos with it. It's small but takes very beautiful pictures, so I always took it on trips.
