■ Grand Place Flower Carpet
The Flower Carpet began in 1971 and this year (August 15th to August 18th, 2024) was the 23rd time. More than 500,000 flowers were laid over 1680 m2 (70m long x 24m wide) of the Grand Place in Brussels. Around 100 volunteers, all professional gardeners from the Antwerp region, created the carpet in less than 6 hours!
This year, the "Rhizome" was conceived by Océane Cornille as a tribute to Brussels and Art Nouveau.
Seeing 2024 as an opportunity to break tradition, the main focus was on the magnificent dahlias, instead of the begonias used in past flower carpets.
You can admire the colorful pattern from the balcony of the City Hall, but a ticket must be purchased in advance. It's worth to see.
