My English Journey from the Big 6-0 『還暦からの英会話』

私、実は11月いっぱいで、「楽天ひかり」を解約致しました。

Actually, I cancelled my "Rakuten Hikari" (fiber optic internet) at the end of November.

以前は2階建ての家に4人家族で住んでいましたが、3年ほど前から、皆、独立し、私は平屋の小さな家に引っ越し、一人暮らしです。

I used to live in a two-story house with my family of four, but about three years ago, everyone moved out. I moved to a small one-story house and now live alone.

もちろん楽天ひかりに不便は無かったのですが、考えてみればWi-Fiを使うのはスマホ、パソコン、テレビ、プリンターだけです。

Of course, Rakuten Hikari was fine, but if I think about it, I only use Wi-Fi for my smartphone, PC, TV, and printer.

​と思い、早速、楽天モバイルのショップに相談したところ、その場所(環境)によっては不便になるかもしれないとのことでした。

I immediately asked the Rakuten Mobile shop, and they said it might be inconvenient depending on the location and environment.

そこでアドバイスをいただいたのが、まずスマホでテザリングしながらテレビ、パソコン、スマホの3台同時に動画を見られるか試してみると言う事です。

The advice they gave me was to first try watching videos on three devices (TV, PC, and smartphone) at the same time using my smartphone's tethering function.

​すぐに家に帰り試したところ、何の問題もなく3台同時に動画視聴できました。

I immediately went home and tried it, and I could watch videos on three devices simultaneously without any problems.

結果、楽天ひかりを解約し、ポケットWi-Fiを購入するに至りました。

As a result, I cancelled Rakuten Hikari and bought a Pocket Wi-Fi.

実際に家で使用してみると２部屋隣に移動しても、何の問題もなく使え、とても満足しています。

When I use it at home, I can move two rooms away and still use it without any problem, so I am very satisfied.
