字幕のニュアンスは伝わるけど、実際にはどんな風な意味だろうと少し考えてしまいました。

kinda revelation 打ち明けるような話

に more of a fifth date という「5回以上のデートで」という修飾語がかかっているんですね。最近、吹替えす気になりそう（笑）。わかりにくい部分も吹替えの台詞を聞くとぴたっとわかるときがあります。


Monica: I know being spit on is probably not what you need right now.
字幕：吹き出す話じゃないわね
吹替え：聞いて吹き出すような種類の話じゃないわよね

spit：liquid from your mouth [intransitive]
to force a small amount of saliva (=the liquid in your mouth) out of your mouth

直訳は「吹き出すことは多分今あなたが必要としていることではないってわかってるわ」という感じかな。


Ross: Do the words 'Billy, don't be a hero' mean anything to you?
字幕：まるで「悲しみのヒーロー」だ
吹替え：「悲しみのヒーロー」って歌が流行ってた頃だぞ

「悲しみのヒーロー」って何？と吹替えを聞いたら、歌であることが判明。

Wikipediaでチェックすると、

"Billy Don't Be a Hero" is a 1974 anti-war pop song by Paper Lace and was also recorded by Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods. It was written by Mitch Murray and Peter Callander.

とありました。反戦ソングなんですね。
こういうのを知っていないとなかなかドラマの設定をわかることができないですね。メロディを知りたくて思わず、iTunes Music Storeをチェックしました。おかげで30秒聞くことができました。


このあと、ジョーイとチャンドラーの台詞が日本版では省略されているようです。

ジョーイのプレイボーイっぷり（？）を証明するエピソードですね。
まあ、この二人のやり取りが合ったから、あのあと、ロスは一人で窓際で黄昏てるんですね。納得。


Ross: Even if I could get it together enough to- to ask a woman out,... who am I gonna ask?
字幕：僕が立ち直って 誰かを誘うとしても 誰を誘えばいい？

get it together：spoken

ask somebody out：

英辞郎では「きちんと行動する」となっています。でも、英英辞典の定義とはちょっとニュアンスが違う気がします。

直訳は「たとえ、僕が女性を誘うことができるくらいうまくいったとして」っていう感じ？

ロスが窓をのぞいてその窓の奥にレイチェルが見えるという演出は上手。
レイチェルを見つめるロスの視線が今後の展開を予感させます。


レイチェルが初めてコーヒーを作って喜んでいるシーンで、削除されたレイチェルとチャンドラーの台詞。

チャンドラーのIfのあとに主語が省略されているのは、HitlerとかSovietsが暗示されてるのかな。

字幕：その勢いでオムレツも作ってよ

幸運［成功・賭け事での勝ち］が続いて

直訳：ねえ、うまくいっている間にさ、オムレツとか何かを作らなくちゃいけない気分になれば

on a roll という表現はちょっと意味が意外でした。チェックしていないとかなり誤解してたかも。rollってジョーイが言っていたので役のroleと勘違いしてました。


Chandler: All right, kids, I gotta get to work. If I don't input those numbers,... it doesn't make much of a difference...
字幕：じゃ仕事に行って 数字打ち込むよ カッコいいだろ？
吹替え：では大人は仕事に行って 数字を打ち込むことにするかな オレってほんと渋いよね

うーーん。字幕も吹替えもチャンドラーの言っている意味とちょっと違うような気がします。

まあ、吹替えの「大人」というのは All right, kids にあわせてるとは思うけど。

make a/the difference：
to have an important effect or influence on something or someone
Whatever she did, it made no difference.

直訳：OK みんな、僕は仕事に行かなくちゃ。もし僕が数字を入力しないと・・・ま、大差ないけどね

チャンドラーの仕事が重要なものではない、ということを暗示しているのかな。

字幕：地方公演が多いんだ
吹替え：地方公演が多くて 見てもらえるのはないよ

I doubt it ：I don't think so.


Monica: Oh wait, wait, unless you happened to catch the Reruns' production of Pinocchio, at the little theater in the park.
字幕：”ピノキオ”の追加公演があるでしょ
吹替え：えーうそ あれがあるじゃないの ”ピノキオ”の追加公演

日本版ではこの台詞のうちの最後のat the little theater in the park が省略されてました。

直訳：ちょ、ちょっと待って。公園の小さな劇場の「ピノキオ」の再演を偶然掴んでなかったら・・・でしょ？

つまり、その役を偶然もらったから、ピノキオを見に行けば見れるじゃない、っていう二重否定。うーーん。こんなの、初見で意味わかんないってば。

字幕：オレをなめるな

直訳：オレはこの屈辱を受ける気はないぞ

よっぽど詰まんない役なんでしょうね。このあと、チャンドラーも馬鹿にして真似てるくらいだから。


Frannie: Oh, I hate you, I'm pushing my Aunt Roz through Parrot Jungle and you're having sex! So? Who?

フラウニーの台詞のうち、最初の部分が日本版では抜けてます。
Aunt RozとParrot Jungleがなぞ。

Aunt Rozというのは1984のテレビドラマのタイトルにあるけど、Parrot Jungleはなし。

直訳：私、あなたが嫌いなのよ。オウムのジャングルを通って、私のロズおばちゃんを押すと、あなたはセックスしてるのよ。

・・・隠語の一種かな。そうすると、かなりヤバイたとえ。


Frannie: I take credit for Paul. Y'know before me, there was no snap in his turtle for two years.
字幕：彼の恩人なのよ 私を知るまで 2年も不能だったの

字幕はちょっと意訳。

直訳：犬やひどい感情的な問題を持った男だけが聞こえる信号か何かを私が持ってるの？

beaconってモニカの発音は「ビーコン」だったけど、文字を見たら「ベーコン」かと思ってしまいました。かなり誤解。犬がベーコン好きとか真剣に思いました。ちなみに、ベーコンは bacon

字幕：面接 落ちまくりよ

if a person or idea is laughed out of court etc, the idea is not accepted because people think it is completely stupid:

この表現はまったく目から鱗。こんな意味があるなんて。
