木蓮が咲く頃　Magnolia in bloom

庭の木蓮 寒かった冬も終わり福岡と名古屋で桜の開花が伝えられた。我が家には木蓮が咲い た。昭和59年(1984年）春に私が医学博士号取得を記念して植えたもので30年以上毎年咲き続け ている。博士号を授与された時、研究の成果ではあるがこれで終わりではない。これ からが大事で医者としても研究者としてもさらに精進してもらいたいと訓示を受け た。木蓮を見るたびにその訓辞を思い出している。 I heard on the radio that the cherry blossom already bloomed in Fukuoka and Nagoya, as the cold winter has already passed. The Magnolia blooms in my garden yesterday. I planted the Magnolia for the memory of receiving the Doctor of medicine in the spring on the 59th year of Showa (1984). It blooms annually for 30 years . When we received our diploma, our professor told us that this is not the end of learning but the start. He said "you should devote your energies to be great physicians and researchers from this day forward". I remember his message every year whenever I see the flower of magnolia.
