For the past year or so there have been four BBC TV channels which could broadly be described as entertainment channels. There are three or four other BBC channels as well, but these are mainly news and current affairs. BBC4 is a documentary channel. It runs from seven in the evening until after midnight and has an interesting approach to programming. Often the whole evening is devoted to one theme. For example this evening the theme is volcanoes. There is a documentary about Pompei, a 1970's comedy programme which was based on the everyday life of some weird folk who supposedly lived in Pompei, another documentary, this time about Krakatoa, then a Hollywood film, and finally something else related to volcanoes, exactly what I have forgotten. I like this themed approad.
Recent evening themes have been 'the moon', 'potatoes', 'The Who', and 'Queen Victoria'. All have a similar mix of films, documentaries, cartoons, comedies, live performances etc.
I'm looking forward to this evening's offerings.
