We wash quite a few towels and sheets. Junko and I have different systems for hanging the towels out. I hang them vertially because they take up less space on the line. Junko hangs them horizonally because she says they dry more quickly. I often wonder which is better, but I always come round to my way of thinking. I can't see how the horizontal hang makes for quicker drying, in fact, on a windy day I would say that they would dry more quickly hanging vertically as, when the wind blows and the towels swings back and forth in the wind, the tip of the towel travels further and therefore, in my reasoning, would pass more air and thus dry more quickly. But I will leave it up to you to think about it and come to your own decision.
We have a number of small pumpkins, just a bit bigger than tennis balls. They will never reach maturity and ripen, so we have decided to pick them and eat them like courgettes. We had one in miso soup last night, it was nice - very tender.
