It always comes as a shock to me. I am quietly sitting in a darkened room, resting my eyes after their day’s use, when suddenly a blue light shines from the corner. An American voice gently says: “Virus database has been updated”. It gets me every time.

Junko was a bit upset this morning. We took mother shopping to Morrisons. Mother has got a disabled badge for the car, as she can no longer walk that well, and this badge enables us to park, if she is in the car, in special parking places, closer to the entrance of the shop than the normal spaces are. Well, we walked slowly with mother holding onto the trolley and I walked round with her while she did her shopping. Junko went off on her own and did some shopping for us, which she took back to the car. When she put it in the car she was roundly abused by a lady who said that she shouldn’t park there as she wasn’t disabled. Oh well. It’s a pity that lady hadn’t seen us making our slow way to the shop with mother.

Currently there is a bit of a hiatus in our runner bean production. However there are some little ones developing which should mature nicely soon, especially after yesterday’s rain. It’s not so much that it went into the ground, it wet the leaves and the flowers which is just what they need to develop well, I think.
