Here we go, mopping up from another winter storm smack-down.
The storm broke New York’s 86-year-old record for January snowfall. A total of 36 inches had fallen in Central Park this month as of 1 a.m., compared with 27.4 inches in 1925, the National Weather Service said. The seasonal snowfall now stands at 56.1 inches in New York City. The snowiest season on record occurred during the winter of 1995-96, when 75.6 inches of snow fell.(That winter, we were still in NJ. Kay had gymnastic practices and the meets, also Lisa and Amy had swimming practices/meets even on the heavy snow days;Die hard gymnasts and swimmers, and crazy parents!!) Given the expected weather pattern over the next month or so, this figure is well within reach. Currently this winter stands at number 6 on the all-time snowiest winters on record. 昨日からの今朝にかけての降雪でセントラルパークは 86年ぶりに一月降雪量の記録を破りました。 (深夜1時、91.44cmで1925年の69.59cmを大幅に上回りました。) この冬の降雪量は既に1m42cm。 シーズン最高降雪量は1995-96年度1m92cm。 この調子では来月記録を更新しそうです。 1995-96年の冬はNJに住んでいました。 大雪でも新体操と水泳の練習・試合は中止にならず その送迎に雪中を運転していました。 物凄い根性ですよね。子供たちも親たちも・・・ お気に入りの記事を「いいね!」で応援しよう
