久しぶりに新車購入しました～～～。 スバル・アウトバック・・・とっても気に入っています。 どうしても欲しかったのはバックビューカメラ。 それにはムーンルーフ・オプションを付けなくてはいけません。  バックビュースクリーンはバックミラーの隅。 それでは小さすぎて見難いので ８インチスクリーンで見れる カーナビ・オプション付きがマストアイテム。 ベージの内装は外装色が濃緑、濃紺、銅、黒、白。 このチョイスでは白（パールホワイト）が一番綺麗。 私達は娘達が好きな青い車ばかり買っていて 今まで気が付きませんでしたが路上には白い車が多いこと！！ 2011年、北米では白が一番人気だとは知りませんでした。  白でカーナビ付きを探したら 付近のディーラーには在庫がなく 取り寄せ注文だと割高になるので 2時間ほど離れたディーラーで購入することにしました。 サービスの待ち部屋が過ごしやすいディーラーだと 「このディーラーで又車を購入しよう」と思うようになるのですが 残念なことに近所のスバルディーラーの待ち合い室は 狭くて居心地が良いとは言えません。 それに反して近所のホンダディーラーの待ち合い室には 座り心地の良いソファー、大型テレビ、 無料Wifi、コンピューターデスク、 無料ダンキンドーナツ、温かい飲み物に 子供のプレールームまで有ります。 待ち時間を快適に過ごせるようにという心遣い、 車のオーナーを大事にしてくれているように思えるのですよね。 だからシビック購入時、殆ど値引きしてくれなかったけど このディーラーで購入しました。 結局、お目当ての白いアウトバックには リモコンエンジンスターター等 私達には必要もない諸々のオプションが付いてきて 予定予算より高い買い物になりました。 車には満足しているのですが 今回のディーラーでは 窓のないマネージャー部屋に押し込められて  保証期間延長サービス契約を薦められました。 昔、メンテナンス延長サービス契約をして 結局利用しなかったので それ以後はこのサービスを買うことはなかったのですが 「買います」と言うまで、部屋から出させて貰えそうにない雰囲気。 （購入したばかりの車を人質に取られているような気分で） 早くこのディーラーを去りたかったジョンは 「３０％オフにしてくれるなら買う」と言ってしまいました。 その横で私は「要らないよ～～～」  マネージャーは上役に相談してくると一旦部屋を出ていき （その間一人の営業員が私達を《監視》） 2分後に「３０％オフにしてよい許可を貰った」 メンテナンス延長サービス契約値段表は 話しながらの手書き。 ３０％オフと言っても元々が曖昧な値段。 6年/8万マイル＋ 3750マイル毎のオイルチャンジ、 鍵紛失時無料鍵交換プランを1500ドルで契約しました。 ナビやらリモコンエンジンスターター等 壊れやすそうなアイテムが満載なので 《100ドル自己負担なので結局は損だろうけど》 安心料だと思うことにしました。 スバルから顧客満足度調査カードが送られてきたら このディーラーに低い点数を付けますよ～～～。 兎も角、アウトバックはとっても気に入っています。 3万5千ドル以下で買える車種では この車が私達のニーズにピッタリ。 私達のアウトバックはPZEVモデルで部分的なゼロエミッション車 （日本でいうエコカー？） 燃費はカタログ表示 街中22MPG、 高速道路29MPGよりずっと良いです。 まだ「慣らし期間」運転中ですが 高速で33.3MPG(14.16Km/L)、 街中で24.7MPG(10.5Km/L)、 平均実燃費は29MPG(12.33Km/L)です。 「慣らし期間」が終わればもっと燃費が良くなると思います。 私達には、ほぼ完璧な車なのですが・・・・ ●オーナーズマニュアルが最悪。全く役立たない。 ●音声認識システムが良くない。 （私の英語発音が悪いせいだと思っていましたが 他のオーナー達からも苦情がでているようなので システムが悪いのだと思います。） ●ナビはガーミン（Garmin）よりはマシですが スマホ用グーグルマップのアプリの方が使いやすいです。 ●トランクのドアが重すぎて 背が低く”かよわい”私が閉めるのは一苦労。 （まぁ、もっと値段の高い車を買えば トランク・リッド・イージークローザーが付いているのですが コスト削減でイージークローザーが付いていない場合には もう少しドアを軽くしてくれればと思うわけですよ。）   We bought Subaru Outback. So far, we are really impressed and happy. I really wanted the “rear vision camera”. It comes with the “Moon roof package”. Without the Navigation System option, the screen appears on the corner of back view mirror; that screen is too small. However, with Navigation System option, the screen is 8 inches. I like the Ivory Upholstery, and it comes with White, Green, Bronze, Indigo and Black Exterior colors. So we picked White which is very nice peal color. (We never noticed there are so many white cars on the road. In 2011, white was the most popular color in North America, making up 23 percent of all vehicles. ) There was no White Outback at nearby dealers, so we had to get it from the dealer which was two hours away. We could order it to nearby dealers, but they didn’t give us good discounts. If nearby dealer has nicer service waiting room, we would had bought the car from them, even they don’t give us the great deals. When you go back for service, they treat you well and you feel comfortable in the waiting room, they earn your loyalty. In our area, Honda dealer is the best in the service waiting room category. They know how to make car owners happy. (Clean and comfortable sitting area w/TV, Dunkin Donuts, drinks, Free Wifi, working desks and playroom for kids.) Anyway, originally we are looking at Premium Model but the one we got is Limited which has Navi, Dual-zone climate control, premium audio system, Puddle lights and Remote engine starter and Leather seats.... those are not on our “must have” list and cost us 3k more. Still, we think in lower 30K price range, this Outback is the best fit for us. Now, we have these “extras” and we love them. Rear view on an 8 inches screen is so good. Now I can easily and safely back up. Remote engine starter is good have in extreme hot or cold weather. (You can start engine with a remote starter, but you cannot drive the car without using the key.) The car is big but easy to handle. Our Outback has Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) system which is considered a 'green vehicle' They say 22 City / 29 Hwy; I got 33+ on Hwy and 24 City for a combined 29 MPG. It’s still in the “break in” period; I think the mileage will get better after the break in period is over. Few things we don't like... ●The manuals. This is the worst manual we ever had. ●Navi is better than our Garmin, but still not good as Google map app on phones. ●The voice recognition is really horrible. I thought the problem was my English, but other people complain about it also. ●The trunk door is VERY heavy; it’s too heavy for (a short and old person like) me to close. (I know if we pay more and get the luxury cars, they come with a trunk open/close remote. I just wish the trunk door is lighter.) The dealer pushed hard to sell the extended warranty and Car care service plan. We bought the warranty for Nissan and Ford cars before, and we didn’t get any benefit. (it was wasted of the money.) The manager took us into the room without windows. He started pitching the several plans. There was no printout sheet, he jot down the numbers while he was talking. We paid $1500 for 6 years/80K miles ($100 deduction) + oil changes every 3750miles + Free key replacement. We knew that was not a good deal, but it seemed they won’t let us go unless we purchase the warranty. (They had “our” Outback as a hostage.) It was not a pleasant experience.
