have + an ear (eye, nose, tongue) for -- という
A: Tom, did you speak ill of Tanaka-kun just ago ?
B: I did, but you have a sharp ear, do you ?
「地獄耳」=have a sharp ear で良いですね。
have one's ear to the ground.
You have to have your eyes to the ground.
Otherwise, you will be like the frog in the well who does
not know the ocean.
If you want to be a good English communicator,
first you have to have your eyes to the ground.
have someone's ear/ have the ear of someone
Mt. Konosuke Matsushita had the ears of
his employees and of outer business people.
