Dear Friends, Greetings from Ken. This email finds you well. Yesterday or May 5th, the last day of the three consecutive national holidays, I WAS going to take one of my local students to Kokura, a northern city of Fukuoka Pref., where an international exhibition of various imported foods and goods was held. I had just wanted to give him a good opportunity to talk in English to as many overseas exhibitors as possible at the show. He an 8th grader. I have been sharing my English practice with him for about 7 months as a part of my experiment on English education to people younger than 18 year old. Every time the show is held in Kokura around this season of the year, I take some students of mine, if they want to be there, to the show for their actual and practical practice in talking to many people in English But I had to cancel this plan this time due to an acute pain with my right knee. I wasn't able to walk as normally as I do. I had lots of pain and the knee got swollen. This pain was one of the symptoms of gout- a disgusting disease I have been suffering from for the past six years. I had to stay in bed calmly for these past three days, bearing the very acute and severe pains with the knee. I am, at the same time, sincerely so sorry to you all for not having been able to email you practical English lectures and trainings for these days due to the above reason. However, please allow me to make a fresh start with the following lecture. I am going to check and make necessary corrections, from tomorrow on,- for a couple of days- till the beginning of the next week- to all the translations and answers kindly submitted by you all. ＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝ ＜お知らせ２＞ 英語星占い掲示板 http://bbs2.sekkaku.net/bbs/horoscope.html 日英スパーリング掲示板、（皆様ご参加下さい） http://bbs7.sekkaku.net/bbs/JESparring.html 私の意見（日本国の政府・行政機関について　と　頼るは自分の腕のみ） http://fukuoka.shoplog.jp/niten/2800.html ＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝ 【講義】 関係代名詞とそれ以後の情報の重要性について ２００８年１２月３１日付けの課題から 次の課題を和訳課題として出しておりましたね： * Gov't responds to recession with budget that lacks strategy. respond(s) to　は、～に対応する、対処する recessionは、不況 budgetは、予算 lack(s)は、＜動詞で＞不足する、欠ける、 strategyは、戦略、一貫した方針　ですね 学校などでよくある訳し方は、 【政府、戦略なき予算で、不況に対応】となります。 関係代名詞の情報部分、 【budget that lacks strategy】 を 先に言わないと、日本語としては、収まりが宜しく無い、と 思える為です。 是迄の英語教育では、殆ど全ての教育者や関係者、 テキスト類も、関係代名詞以後の情報部分を先に訳する、 という事が行われていますが、 私は、大学生のときから、これには疑問をもっておりました。 そして、通翻訳業務をしている中で、 従来式の訳し方が、改善すべきであると確信を持つに至りました。 ・ Gov't responds to recession with budget that lacks strategy. 英語による情報は、【左　⇒⇒⇒　右】　の方向に、物語が 展開しますので、 その流れに逆行する従来の、訳の仕方を すこし考え直して、何かより良い手は無いかと考える必要があります。 日本語の情報の流れは、 渦巻き型蚊取り線香　と同じで、 最初は、外側から（主題に関連性が薄い内容から） 核心（中心）に向かっていきます。 英語は、大事な事を先に言いまして、 後になるほど、情報内容が、補足的なものになっていきます。 ですから、 英語の情報の意味合いは、英語の流れに沿って解する方が、 いわんとする内容を正しく把握できます。 英語の流れで訳する事が、 解釈のズレが生じない事になります。 ・ Gov't responds to recession with budget that lacks strategy. 従来式：【政府、戦略なき予算で、不況に対応】　ですが、 私が、上記の英語見出しを(初見で）初めて見て感じたのは、 「批判の感じ」です。 英語の語順に沿って(英語の流れで）意味を取れば 批判に感じられます。おそらく実際の記事部分は、批判的な内容でしょう。 【政府の不況対応策は予算で。但し、戦略性は無いが。】 私はこの様に意味をとります。 that lacks strategyは、 追加情報ですね。そして、政府の対応策を批判する内容で、補足しています。 関係代名詞は、接着剤と同じで、情報を繋げる役割でしか存在価値がありません。 【主要情報　＋　(関係代名詞)　＋　付加（補足）情報】　ですね 　⇒　　⇒　　⇒　　⇒　　⇒　　⇒　　⇒ ですから、付加情報と、主要情報をごっちゃにする訳し方、 つまり、従来の訳し方は、ちょっと英語の意味合いがズレてしまう危険性が高いのです。 ご参照ください。ご質問は何なりとどうぞ。 ＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝ ○通信講座新規課題　（上記を踏まえての課題です） ＊日本語に訳してみましょう。 １） You had better get out and experience new things that will spark your enthusiasm. 2) Recently I was visited by a very good friend who had just returned from a long walk in the woods. ～～～～～～～～～～～～～～～～～～～～～～～～～～～～～～ ご参照ください。ご質問は何なりとどうぞ。 ＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝
