Concern grows for detained Japanese academic Academics in Australia and Japan are becoming extremely concerned about the deteriorating health of a Japanese PhD student who has now been in immigrant detention in Sydney for almost two months. Megumi Ogawa has degrees from two top Japanese universities and wrote a book on broadcasting law that won high praise from a former chief justice of Australia's High Court. But her promising law career went off the rails when she had a dispute with a supervisor at Melbourne University.
