 Being actively involved in crypto trading and investing, I realize how vital it is to catch Bitcoin’s key movements. In the last few days, my prediction of a pullback is taking place, which is a reminder of how fast things can move here. I start analyzing things by looking at the monthly charts for Bitcoin, the stock market and the top 100 cryptos.

More than half of the top 100 cryptos are up at the end of each month. Stock markets have been strong as the S&P 500 went up over 6% over the month. In the past, when the S&P 500 rises by 5% or more in May, the period that follows usually sees an additional rise of 20%. That looks positive to me; however, I remain cautious when pullbacks happen in the near term.

I also notice places on the chart where price changed very rapidly and left gaps. Many times, I find these created during pullbacks, so I note them as possible points to enter the market. It’s normal for the stock market to dip during a bull market, and it doesn’t always point to the end. They’re really moments for me to pause and decide what to do next.

​My Approach to Trading Pullbacks and Managing Risk

Seeing a pullback happen, I make sure not to take big risks right away. I prepare myself to act the next time I play. Currently, Bitcoin is only 4.7% away from hitting a new all-time high, while the S&P 500 (SP500) is very close to its records. I will look for an SR flip, meaning where a former resistance level is rotating to support. When this takes place, it points to the possibility of a further upward move in the market.

June closes the Q2 period, and Bitcoin usually earns its Q2 average of 27% returns at this point. Ethereum had a return of 37% in Q2, which is lower than the average of 64%. It appears that stocks could experience sideways activity or a minimal decline, especially for Ethereum, which usually pauses after climbing in May.

However, because altcoin dominance is at its lowest for 4.5 years, this is now considered a very challenging period for these cryptocurrencies.
