This movie is based on an actual event,
and of course based on the book of the same name, by Mark Bowden.

And all it does is tell the story of what happened in Mogadishu on October 3, 1993.

It's Somalia, East Africa, in 1992.

There were years of warfare among rival clans

causes famine on a biblical scale.

In the result, 300,000 civilians die of starvation.


Mohamed Farrah Aidid, the most powerful of the warloads,
rules the capital Mpgadishu.

He seizes international food shipments at the ports.

Hunger is his weapon for his enemies.

The world responds.

Behind a force of 20,000 U.S. Marines, food is delivered
and order is restored temporary.

April 1993, Aidid waits until the U.S. Marines withdraw,
and them declares war on the remaining U.N. peacekeepers.

In June, Aidid's militia ambush and slaughter 24 Pakistani soldiers,
and begin targeting American personnel.

In late August, American's elite soldiers, Delta Force, Army Rangers
and the 16th SOAR are sent to Mogadishu to remove Aidid and restore order.

The mission was to take three weeks,
but six week later Washington was growing impatient.

It's nightmare for U.S. and Somalians.


Why did The U.S. go to war on other countries?

The U.S. had no business getting involved in the affairs of Third World countries
and their ancient, tribal disputes.


By the way,
it's very accurate as far as weapons, equipment, uniforms, etc.
They used the exact helicopters that were used in the original mission in 1993 with the 160th SOAR.
