Photographer: Kuni Takahashi

Kuni Takahashi, born in 1966 in Sendai, Japan, has been working as a news photographer in the United States for last twelve years. He has documented the life of children living in conflict countries like Liberia, Iraq, Haiti and South Africa. He is the recipient of the Kyoichi Sawada Photography Award in 2003. In 2004 he published the book “The War I Saw” which won the 9th Japan Picture Book Grand Prize. In addition, he has received the Best of Show in Photography in the National Headliner Awards. Takahashi has visited Liberia several times since the civil war in 2003 to document the life of children struggling to recoup their life in the post-war period.
This resulted in the book “Although the War is Over” which was published in 2005. Takahashi hopes that this exhibition will shed lights on the living environment of children in Liberia and raise awareness and support by Japanese people.
