(1-Japanese)19日のDaily Yomiuriの一面のチベット暴動関連の記事の中で、
"personify"(~を体現する、~の権化となる)という動詞に出会ったので その部分とともにご紹介します (perfonifyほか、動詞をハイライトしています): "...the 72-year-old, who has come to personify his people’s struggle, refused to call on the Tibetans inside Tibet to end peaceful protests." (1-English)I would like to introduce a verb "to perfonify" which I encountered when I read an article regarding the Tibet upheaval on the top page of March 19 edition of Daily Yomiuri, with the whole sentence that contains the verb. And let me cite the definition by Collin’s COBUILD Advanced Learner’s Dictionary: "If you say that someone personifies a particular thing or quality, you mean that they seem to be a perfect example of that thing or that they have a lot of that quality." Example: She seemed to perfonify goodness and nobility. お気に入りの記事を「いいね!」で応援しよう
