face-to-face interviews on August 9-10)
(読売新聞社が今月９・１０日に行った「結婚観」に関する対面式世論調査の
結果報告）

...Thirty percent agreed with the statement (1)"It is desirable for men

to concentrate on work, and for women to devote themselves to the home

after marriage" while 68 percent disagreed."

The 1978 survey asked people whether (2)"men pursuing a career and

women looking after a fome and family brought happiness to both."

Seventy-one percent of respondents agreed and 22 percent did not.

The view that (3)a man should work while his wife stays at home has

rapidly lost public support.


...The above slanted parts with numbers (1) to (3) atop are paraphrasing
options of the idea of "Men should concentrate on work while women
should devote herself to housework and child raising."

The survey shows pronounced change, almost a reversal of public opinions
as about seven out of ten interviewees do not share this view in this
month’s survey while the result was just the opposite 30 years ago.

(上の斜線部分の（１）～（３）で示した表現が、いわゆる「男は仕事、女は
家庭（家事・子育て）に専念すべき」という概念の表現バリエーションです。

1978年の同調査ではこれに賛成７割、反対３割弱だったのが30年後の2008年には
逆転していますね。)
