For me the whole movie is all about the experience of a progressing mental illness specifically related to alzheimers or dementia. I think our confusion of the plot, dialog, characters, edit, scene cuts and time is I think what dementia/alzheimers feels. The scenes where a narrative suddenly change for no reason resulting to lucy/louisa/aims confusion (which is us) is how the movie is trying to let us feel the confusion of having that illness. A pig infested with maggots somehow pertain to the geriatric population's need for affection, company, care that results depression and how Ageism affects the community. This hits close to home because my grandma suffered from it.

I just got so sad and just overall cried when i reached this scene. It's supposed to be a romantic scene but with the overall message of the movie, this scenes portrays all the what if's and could have been's of Jake if only he did try to approach Lucy. It showed you how magical their love could've been before it was killed. Love was killed before it even had the chance to begin. Also, the fact that old Jake the janitor killed young Jake meant that reality has finally hit him. He woke up from his dream and accepted that things will never be the way he imagined it ought to be and that's how he came up with his final answer of eventually ending things- his life.

This movie is so much better in the second viewing.
I like how he said Charlie CoughMan. Like hes some germ spreading super hero.
Hereditary has many parts where things are in the background great movie.
Oh, how wrong I was about this movie😅expecting just the spooky stuff- I' m gonna blame the trailer for that haha (and the fact that I didn't taken into consideration the director previous work)🙈🤦‍♀️ it's a story to be experienced-favorite part of the review. and yeah, usually I'm not a fan of this approach but for Kaufman s films, I think that this is the best approach. After the credits rolled, I found myself feeling melancholic and then full of hope (for some reason) was my experience with the movie, I really enjoyed it!💙 Also I appreciate the stuff happening in the video, and the parallel between Ionesco's absurd and Buñuel's. Love theatre and I find myself resonating with Ionesco's absurd, especially in The Lesson. Thanks for another enjoyable and informative review!✌🌼.

Anyone else feel Jesse plemons is like Philip seymour Hoffman's protege.
I love his analyses of all the films, except this one. I think this one is simply Jake fantasizing. I think the script makes it all clear, almost immediately. Theres room for how to interpret some imagery, but the basic story is an old dude contemplating suicide under the guise of his personified fantasy contemplating leaving him.

Ok. I cared about the characters but I was bored senseless. Your segment was beautifully constructed and your commentary exemplary. I know you put tons of work into it. So bravo for that. But next time use your time more wisely, like a dissertation on “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”. So, I love you but hated the movie and would relegate it to the trashbin of self-conscious, self- indulgent and self-important claptrap.

Fat Damon was as tasty as a fightin Rottweiler and the chic was pretty cute too.  An important meditation on race relations and the importance aging quietly. I plan on watching it again when I get the netbox fixed.
