花見友紀の「鉄道のある日常」

以前このブログで、女性専用車両について考えてみたが、これに関連して、大学の図書館で「女性専用車両の社会学」という本を見つけた。

この本では、リスク社会学の考え方から女性専用車を分析し、「女性専用車導入までの経緯」、「治安の悪化と車内マナーの関連性」、「通勤電車内での身体技法・痴漢に対する嫌悪感」、「男女共同参画社会・痴漢対策以外の女性専用車に込められた意味」をひもといていく。

さっそく冒頭部分を読んでみた。すると女性専用車に対する女性客の意見としてこういったものが見られた。

― 「近くに男性がいるだけでイヤな感じがする」「女性だけのほうが清潔」「男の人の汗がイヤ」「おじさんがクサい」「男の人で息が詰まりそう」「男の人はクサいし怖い」 ― （同書30ページより）

読んでいて、麗ちゃんのような端的な声と思ってしまったが、やはり実際の女性にも「不潔」「汗クサい」「怖い」といった意見があり、女性だけの空間というものの必要性はあると言えよう。

男女平等やジェンダーフリーが叫ばれる今、差別とも思われるような女性専用車という政策、これが受け入れられたのは、「女性の社会進出を助けるもの」（同書20ページより）という認識があるからだそうだ。この点も興味深い記述だ。

女性専用車が社会的にどう受け取られているのか、電車内でのマナーの悪化とは何なのか…、現代の鉄道を考える一冊だ。

一つだけ突っ込みを入れるとしたら、表紙の車両には女性専用車がないということだ。

On 27th, I found a book named "Josei Senyou Sharyo no Shakaigaku (Sociology of women-only coach)" at university library.

On this book, the auther analyzes women-only coach from a viewpoint of risk sociology and explains the history of women-only carriage, the relation of deterioration of the social order and manner in the train, the praxeology in the commuter train and the revulsion against groping, the other meanings except gender-equal society and protection against the crime.

Then, I read the beginning of this book, and it says some women who often uses women-only coach says

- "I hate the old guys just only standing nearby.", "The atmosphere only for women is clean.", "The guys are sweaty.", "Guys is suffocating.", "I feel old men stinky and I'm scared to them." - (from page 30)

I first feel that was going too far like Urara's saying, but actually there're voices that old men are unclean, scary, and sweaty, and for requirement for women-only coach.

Amid calls for gender-equal society, some passengers realize women-only carriage differentiates males. However, it is welcomed because it helps women's social advancement (from page 20). This is a interesting sentence.

What's the women-only coach and the bad behaviour in the train? This book approaches the problems of commuter trains in present.

But, the train on the cover doesn't have women-only coach!!
