花見友紀の「鉄道のある日常」

17日、横浜駅の名物駅弁である「シウマイ弁当」を久しぶりに食べた。





クロゴマのかかったごはんと、シューマイ5個、筍の煮物、鶏のから揚げ、玉子焼き、蒲鉾、マグロの照り焼きが箱の中に詰まっている。

何度食べても飽きない、そしてどこか懐かしい味がするこの駅弁が、僕は好きだ。このシューマイが100年以上愛されてきたことを思うと、なおさらその物語性を感じてしみじみとなってしまう。


On 17th, I ate Shaumai (ravioli a la vapeurs) Bento, an ekiben (bento selling at the stand in the railway stations) selling at Yokohama Station. It is one of the most famous ekiben in Japan.

It contains rice topped with sesame, five portions of ravioli a la vapeurs, cooked bamboo shoot, fried chicken, rolled cooked egg, a kamaboko fish paste, and roasted soy-sauce-seasoned tuna.

The ekiben doesn't get bored at eating many times and feel the long history. It may be why it is beloved for over 100 years.
