いよいよ引退の時が迫った東急8090系電車が2013（平成25）年6月にGREENMAXの手により模型化が決定!!

8090系は軽量ステンレス車体の電車として1980（昭和55）年、東横線に登場。コンピュータによる精密な設計により、従来の東急電車と比較して、1両あたり1.5tもの軽量化に成功した。デビュー当初は8両編成で東横線の急行列車を中心に活躍していたが、1988（昭和63）年、将来の横浜高速鉄道みなとみらい線との直通運転に向けて、8090系の改良型で、貫通扉のある8590系電車と入れ替わりに5両編成に短縮されて大井町線に転属した。

2009（平成21）年より東横線から9000系の転属が始まり、それと入れ替わりに廃車が進行している。2013（平成25）年2月時点で、8090系は残り2本にまで減り、いよいよ最後の時を迎えようとしている。引退した8090系は3両編成または2両編成に短縮されて秩父鉄道へ譲渡された。

模型は東横線で走っていた当時の8両編成を再現している。正面ガラスのゴム形状と前照灯・尾灯の位置が異なる初期型（8091F～8095F）と後期型（8097F～8099F、8081F～8090F）両方が登場する。

8090 Series debuted on 1980 and manufactured as the lightweight stainless steel train using a computer programme, which could be about 1.5-ton lighter than the old stainless steel trains. At first, consisting of 8 carriages, 8090 Series ran as the express trains on Toyoko Line. However, in 1988, it moved to Oimachi Line and shorten to 5 carriages as 8590 Series, improved model with emergency escape door, was manufactured to prepare for the going-through service to Yokohama Minatomirai Railway Minatomirai Line.

Since 2009, the retirement of 8090 Series started as 9000 Series on Toyoko Line moved to Oimachi Line and shorten to 5 carriages. On February, 2013, 8090 Series remains just only 2 sets on Oimachi Line and the last day of 8090 Series in service may come soon. The retired sets shortened 3 or 2 carriages and moved to Chichibu Railway.

There are two types of the model, re-created the first one (8091F~8095F sets) and the last (8097F~8099F sets, 8081F~8090F sets).
