花見友紀の「鉄道のある日常」

9日、10日の「練馬アニメカーニバル」の会場となったとしまえん。

以前にもこのブログで扱ったが、としまえんはアトラクションを建設する際に、園内の木々を1本も伐採していないことが特筆すべき点である。そして園内の正門近くを石神井川が横切っていることも特徴であり、この2つより「水と緑の遊園地」をキャッチコピーとしている。

としまえんは元々室町時代に現在の練馬区を領地としていた豊島氏の居城だった練馬城の城跡に1926（大正15）年、藤田好三の手によって一部が開園し、翌1927（昭和2）年に全面開園を迎えた。当初はトラック競技場、温室、ギリシャ風の音楽堂、古城の食堂、日本庭園、ボート池などが設置されていた。遊戯施設はウォーターシュート（プールに飛び込む滑り台のようなもの）、滑り台、ブランコが設置されていた。プールは1929（昭和4）年に開設され、その後も飛行塔やミニSLも誕生した。こうして、としまえんは家族で1日を楽しめる行楽施設へと成長していった。

1944（昭和19）年、戦争により一時閉園したものの、1946（昭和21）年に営業再開した。一時閉園直前の1944（昭和19）年に西武鉄道に買収されて、現在に至る。

「空飛ぶ電車」という日本初の遊覧用の懸垂式モノレールを運行したのも、としまえんだった。

としまえんは近く、東京都の広域避難場所としても機能する公園として整備される予定となっているため、一部のアトラクションは残されるものの、遊園地としてのとしまえんは閉園となってしまう。

そんな緑豊かなとしまえんを、閉園前に写真に収めた。


Toshimaen amusement park in Nerima-ku, Tokyo, where annual "Nerima Anime Carnival" was held on 9th and 10th of November, has 2 characteristic points; no trees were felled to construct rides as I wrote before, and another is Shakujii River crossing in the south of the park near the main gate. These 2 features make an advertising copy "The amusement park with green and water".

The land of Toshimaen originally comes from the remain of Nerima Castle of Toshimas governing present Nerima-ku in Muromachi Period (around 14th and 15th century). In 1926 Kozo Fujita started to arrange the land to a park and fully opened in 1927. In that time it consisted of an athletic track field, greenhouses, a Greek-style concert hall, a Japanese-castle-looking restaurant, a rake with rowing boats, water slides, slides, and swings. Swimming pools also opened in 1929, because of which the park became a popular resort families could enjoy.

Though the World War 2 lead the temporal close in 1944, it reopened in 1946. Shortly before the temporal close the park was purchased by Seibu Railway.

The first hanging monorail for sightseeing called "Flying Train" operated in Toshimaen, too.

Toshimaen is closing in a few years as an amusement park because of the plan to be converted to a Tokyo Metropolitan park, also functioning as a evacuation site when a disaster happened.
