For some odd reason, I had managed to spend the last ten years without seeing this movie (I know, I know) but I finally watched it yesterday night, and I've got to say, oh my god.At first, the amount of exposition and the confusing nature of the whole thing caught me off-guard, but when it got moving, boy did it get moving. By the end, I was left there, staring at my television screen, having no clue what just hit me. This is one of the most complex worlds that I have ever seen put on screen; it is mind-bending, and I believe that with multiple viewings I will pick up on more stuff that will make the movie even better than it already is.The whole cast is undeniably fantastic in this action-packed thriller, and Christopher Nolan clearly knows how to get the best out of them, and how to craft an epic story. Another standout here is Hans Zimmer, whose score is, again, one for the ages.Finally, I believe that the ending is often what makes or breaks a movie. I am a sucker for a good twist ending or a highly emotional ending, but my favorite ones are the endings that are ambiguous, the ones that let you decide what really happened, that make you want to rewatch the movie over and over again to find more clues and solve the mystery.Inception delivers one of the all-time greats in that regard.BWOOOHAAA.Has anyone else received that 'melancholy feeling' after waking up from a dream? You just had an emotionally endearing dream of some sort and you never wish to wake up. Once you wake up you feel this deep-seated emotion that has been planted into your subconscious; you can't entirely recognize what happened in your dream but you feel it. It doesn't happen very often - but when I do have one of these dreams I cherish that time period where I feel these deep gripping feelings. It truly is an experience. The plot twists and the conspiracy haze go quite far, and it isn't long after one gives up in trying to understand who is doing what to whom for what reason. The movie isn't boring, I'll give it that; De Palma's films are rarely boring. However, there is also a casting problem: Rhames - of all people - plays a computer expert, a hacker, no less. This is absolutely ridiculous. Then we have the old and nearly fat Jon Voight karate-chopping the young James Bond-type Tom Cruise character. Even more absurd, Voight's wife is Emmanuelle Beart. These two are as convincing a pair as Bob Dole and Britney Spears would be. The action sequences with the helicopter are Woo-esquire: Cruise blows up the chopper and the explosion throws him - unharmed - onto the train, which is going at around 200 km/h. And then a part of the chopper fails to impale him by a mere millimeter. These scenes were truly prophetic because Woo - the king of absurdist action scenes - took over in the sequel. Beart comes complete with a set of fake breasts and an upper lip so pumped up with silicone (or whatever it is they inject there) that her mouth is perpetually pursed to kiss someone.Also have to add a plug for 'Get Smart' in the great TV intro category, as well as the British TV series 'The Prisoner. Both 'The Prisoner' and 'Mission Impossible' were on a par with the way they made you think about their plots.The Good Acshon Movie M Impossible. This movie, like Snow Piercer and Broke Back Mountain, is directed by people who are using western actors but lack western screen writing and production skills. M2 has the least character development and borders on being simply a high budget B movie for novice film goers.Looks awesome can't wait TOM CRUISE is just making mission impossible movies better almost better than 007 movies.The best scene.
