What I admire most: The spirit of the Book was transferred to the movie. Though it may differ in many aspects, the style of Herbert is found in the movie. I think that is very diffucult to do and Lynch mastered it.

I loved the Fish Speakers, this had to be one of the cooler things that had evolved past the first Dune books. Leto II is my favourite character next to Duncan.

Much like Blade Runner, Dune suffered for being ahead of its time. BR is far more relevant now than it was when released. Dune has been around in film media for many years and its gathered its fans who have probably seen the film before reading the books. This is the right time for a retelling me thinks.
