First of all the movie was good just need a little more dept into the, half of the people who are given this film a 1 are over doing it.A 1 that is what people were giving to "superbad" and that movie is hilarious. Second, Why release the film when a love "chik flick"film is going to be released. Three fourths of the time a guy goes to a movie because he is looking,meeting,on a date with a girl. Third the only people who are bad mouthing the movie are supremacist so they didn't have "so called" natives in the film. People will criticize movies with out of all the movie could have been shown with a darker side to it. P.S there should be 1 more with the ending.

I am going to keep this brief but no subtle he destroyed the avatar series. Luckily he can't ruin the series himself because if he could he probably would. The only thing I did like was all the scenery that was kinda cool. But that's not enough no character development rushed plot and wrong character placement just to name a few. M night shamalamalmalmalmalmalmalma why couldn't the fire benders actually bend real fire from there feet and hands that's whats in the show and what all of America wanted along with ah hell you really just screwed up bad I just wanted to add to the hate that it M night. You can bet I will not see any more of his movies if they are smart they should take the rest of the scripts from him and give it to someone competent.

I think this movie was awesome. It had wonderful music, beautiful moves by the actors when using their magical skills and an overall good movie. Too bad they never continued the rest of the story with a 2nd and 3rd movie. I think this movie was well made, good acting, good special effects and a good story.

I'm not going to get into the technicalities of everything that was WRONG with this movie, however there are a few thing that I noticed (as a huge fan of the series) that were wrong and/or missing.

First, the pronunciation of most of the names was butchered. I understand that Shaymalan wanted to give things more of a "cultural" feel, however, changing the names fans such as myself have come to know and love is just wrong. Second, there are quite a few character choices I have issues with. Azula: Her voice was too sweet. The Azula that has been made known to us is a cynical, mean-hearted, nasty individual, and the girl who was chosen to play Azula, didn't have an "evil" enough voice. Zuko's hair was also a big issue for me as well. While I feel Dev Patel did a good job portraying him, he should've had his hair like Zuko's was during book one. Throughout books two and three Zuko's hair changes from a ponytail, to a small patch where the ponytail used to be (symbolizing him choosing to give up hunting the Avatar and starting a new life in Ba-Sing Se, to short hair, to messy, scraggly hair. This symbolizes his change through the series, and without that any (hopefully not) further movies will leave Zuko's "state" unaware to the audience.

Firelord Ozai was another thing that angered me deeply. In the movie, Ozai's face is shown several times, however, in the series his face is not revealed until early book three, adding to his "mysterious bad-guy" persona. And finally, all the small things that were missed out on: Katara's hair-loopies, Iroh wasn't as hefty as he was in the series, no giant coy fish at the north pole, no Roku, no Ko, the Face Stealer, Aang never (attempted to) learn Firebending, Katara called her grandmother "grandmother" as opposed to "Gran-Gran" in the series, there was no Jet, no Boomy, etc...

I can understand some events, such as the pirates, the water-bending scroll, and so on, being left out for time's sake, but important things such as the spirit world, the explanation of the Avatar state, Aang learning he has to master the elements in a year(I believe) as opposed to the three months in the series) and other things to explain to the audience the importance of the Avatar.

Also: The bending was whack. There was too much effort involved for next to no results. I mean, really. If the fire-benders cant create fire, than how would they perform an Agni-Kai? what exactly would the Eclipse do to them? To me, being able to create Fire was the reason Sozin started the war. He felt that because they could created their element and the other benders couldn't, that they were more "pure.

I would rather have sat through a 4.5 hour movie that I payed 50 to go see that included everything (important) from book one, than this garbage. And I very rarely say things like that because I feel if you can't do it better, you don't really have a "right" to say anything bad about it. However, I feel if I was giving 150 million dollars, I (and some of my friend who also love the series) could make a FAR better movie than this.

Another point I would like to make is that Shaymalan probably would've got a better result, overall, if he casted the people who actually voiced the characters. I'm pretty sure Aang was voice by a women(similar to Ash Ketchum from Pokemon) but I would've been happier seeing the 19/20 year old who voiced Zuko in the series than Dev Patel(nothing personal, he's just the only person I've seen from the series)

If you are planning to see this, buy it on DVD, whatever, I would say don't. My High School Drama department could probably make a better movie, because we are all die-hard fans of the series, and know what;s important to the storyline.

By the way, the above was all I could think of while typing this. There are MANY more things wrong with this movie.

I will, however, leave you with this: the best part of the movie was in about the last 10 or so minutes, a person sitting behind me in the theater screamed out "Where's Suki. and everyone in the theater, myself included, stood up, applauded him, and left, because he summed up everything that was missing from the movie in those two words.

Bottom line, your better off watching the episode where the gang goes to see a play about themselves (in book three, chapter 16 I believe) because even THAT is more accurate and entertaining than this.
