A couple of days ago, I wrote about JIN 仁 Part 2, a Japanese TV drama on DVD which Nanna san bought for me. I have been ill for so long while that I have a lot of opportunities to watch DVD on my bed

JIN MINAKATA is a Japanese young doctor (a male) of brain surgery in Japan in AD 2010. He failed to save his fiancé who suffered from the cancer of brain. He was somehow involved in a trouble, he time-slipped to Japanese society of Edo era around 1866-7, namely around 145 years ago. It was the end of Tokugawa Shogunate, that is, Edo era when it was just before Meiji Restoration 1868. In this period in Japan, many foreign countries, headed by USA, surged toward Japan to open her country which had closed herself against the foreign countries for more than 250 years. Many people struggled at risk of their lives for a question if Japan should open herself or keep closing. Among them, Ryoma Sakamoto was a historically distinguished person in fact who had been a son of the lower class of Samurai of Tosa clan, or Kochi Province now. I cannot write about him in detail here now. However, I would dare to say only one point about him, that he was a revolutionary organizer with modern perspective of the world, for instance, he was said to be the first founder of a likeness of stock-joint company whose name was “KAMEYAMA-SHACHU” later “KAIENTAI” 1865 in Japanese history.

JIN MINAKATA, needless to say that this person is fictional, made an acquaintance with SAKI TACHIBANA (fiction), a young daughter and sister of a Hatamoto, a Samurai under direct control of Shogunate. He cured wounded persons and the diseased with the operation with anesthesia like a miracle to people then there, using not only anesthesia but also penicillin. While she helped Jin, she became a medicine disciple of JIN. Meanwhile, the other several followers also did like that and established a clinic of JINYUDO in Edo City (Tokyo now). JIN happened to make acquaintance with RYOMA SAKAMOTO. JIN was supposed to suggest RYOMA some idea for the future Japan and he promised firmly RYOM to save his life by all means, because JIN has already known RYOMA was assassinated in Kyoto 1867 just before his dreams of a new era came true. RYOMA had a capability to foretell the future. It was supposed to come from JIN in this drama. JIN made a great deal of efforts to save RYOMA who was fatally wounded by a assassin’s sward but eventually, failed to save RYOMA’s life though once revived for a little while. This means that JIN could not a bit change the stream of real history. Actually, JIN was concerned if he could change the real history or not and very afraid if God of history might punish him, though he wished the doctors of the future namely 145 years later to cure the brain cancer of JIN’s fiancé by means of a bit amending the real history.

JIN MINAKATA begins to love SAKI and she also loves SENSEI. He proposes her, however she refuses him because his fiancé who is suffering the brain cancer will wait for his return and so she cannot block him to go away to the future Japan. JIN can fundamentally accept the Edo society and loves the populace then who always make a nice smile though the political storms of cruel violence unruly. JIN has no disagreeablilty with Edo era and the Edo populace. He has even respect to them, including SAKI TACHIBANA and her colleagues. He just tries to do what he can do to sufferers in front of his eyesight. (to be continued)
