This weekend, my daughters and I played the karuta card game of Hyakunin-issyu and talked about each waka or poet. My oldest daughter said, "There are so many love poems. I can understand the feelings. People who lived in such old days felt just like us!!" I realized she had grown up. What do you think we did after that? We coated bananas with chocolate and she said, "Mom, it's really fun and makes me happy! Do you think it makes our relationship harmonious?" At that moment, her smile was very innocent! She was still childlike! I have such a lovable 17-year-old daughter!
