I took part in a meeting for parents at my oldest daughter's high school. A teacher shared a tanka poem made by a preparatory student with us.
"My mom has never said to me, 'Study hard!' The sound she is deep-frying pork cutlets encourages me." 「がんばれ」と 口では言わぬ母だけど とんかつ揚げる 音で励ます He advised us, "All preparatory students are full of stress.
