It was perfect weather for an outing.
My friend Kim and I went to US Open and we enjoyed the superb tennis matches under the beautiful weather.
We spend most of our time at the Grandstand.
We saw Elena Dementieva(RUS)[4]/ Camille Pin(FRA) match sitting at the second row!!!
I have been US Open many times and Kay and I were very lucky to be invited to the Luxury Suites last time.
Our friend got the tickets for the corporate Suite.
The suit is for up to 20 people, but there were only 8 of us.
There was an air conditioned sitting room with TV, balcony seats outside and private bathroom.
There were plenty of Food and drink. There was a professional host serving us!!
She handed us the sun block lotions when we sat at the balcony seats.
It was a once in a life time experience.
However, Kay and I thought the view was too far from the court; the balcony is situated above the Courtside Boxes approximately 16 rows from the court.
I like to watch the players and games close up.
Grandstand seats are not reserved, except the sections for coaches and players’ family: first come, first serve basis.
People come and go, if you are patient then you will get a chance to sit close to the court.
The best thing being at the National Tennis Center is you can walking from one court to another and watch many matches on the small courts up close.
Also, you can watch the players and doubles matches which TV usually doesn’t show.
A grounds pass was $48(+Tax and service fee =$58.20), which is pretty reasonable to watch the best tennis in the world. Parking is $18, its little high but still in the reasonable range.
However the price of food inside the tennis center is unreasonable.
Kim brought in some snack and dish from Korean Market in Flushing.
They were similar to Japanese food and very tasty.
I bought the dry fruits and water bottles.
I think next time we go, I like to have the dim-sum at the china/Korea town and then go to the Tennis center.
