A weird coincidence, but seeing the decomposed ghost of the baby with his mother reminded me of Ewan in Trainspotting with the neglected baby that died because his mother was an addict. Similar themes from both scenes.

I think one thing to take away from this dialogue is that Jack never went after Danny like the others. He may be warped and acting on behalf of the hotel, but he never tried to actively hurt his son.
Jack Nicholson looks like all he does is eat pie all day😵.
