オードリー・ヘプバーンが愛した詩

オードリー・ヘプバーンが愛した詩 『報徳産業革命の人』のコラム欄に、標記を載せたところ、それだけ読んだという中学の同窓の友人がいた。肩の力を抜いて読めるからであろう。 報徳道いまいち一円会報１５８号に木村浩先生の「ローマの休日　今もなお」のエッセイが掲載されている。その随想の最後に「ヘップバーンにならいたい」という素敵な一文があった。「オードリー・ヘップバーンは、サム・レベンソンの詩『時の試練を経た人生の知恵』が好きだったという。 　魅力的な唇のためには、優しい言葉を口にしなさい。 　愛らしい瞳を持ちたいなら、他人の良いところを探しなさい。 　ほっそりとした体型を保ちたいなら、おなかをすかした人に食べ物を分けてあげなさい。」 この詩がとても素敵だったので、原文を探してみた。 Time Tested Beauty Tips　　by Sam Levenson For attractive lips, Speak words of kindness. As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, the other for helping others. 詩の最後の「あなたが大きくなったら見出すでしょう。あなたには２つの手があることを。一つはあなた自身を助けるため、もう一つは人々を助けるため」が素晴らしい。 poiseとは身体的な「バランス」のことで、モデルのように姿勢を正しく保ち、歩くことをいう。欧米ではとても重視される。
