When I got to his room, Mr. Hennessy had already been there at the right time! I wondered Joe had already got our promised five grand from him. If Mr. Hennessy looked at my satisfactory works, he must offer extra money! At the moment, Joe threw his drink all over me! What was the idea? Besides, Joe hadn't told Mr. Hennessy about Smithy yet. Eventually, Joe kicked out Mr. Hennessy. We started thinking about the captions: “Her First Cigarette,” “The Mouth of Truth,” “Barber cuts in,” “The Wall Where Wishes Come True,” “Police Inspects Princess” and “Crowned Head.” He was getting excited. Each caption we thought up was brilliant. I thought my pictures had been able to convince him as I had expected. Suddenly he got depressed. Come on! We did a great job! I said to him, “She’s fair game. Joe. It’s always open season on princesses. You must be out of your mind!” He seemed not to listen to me any more. I ended up finding myself pleased too soon.

I tried to bounce back: Of course, as he said, he couldn’t prevent me from selling the pictures. I would get a good price for them! I left his room without even goodbye.
