Things have/Everything has been getting well! Irving must have taken various notable pictures of hers so far. Where will we go next? I’ll make fun of her a little bit.

My next choice is the Mouth of the Truth. The legend horrifies her as I expected. She can’t bring herself to put her hand in there. Then, I do so and pretend to have had my hand cut off at the wrist. She screams in fright. How innocent! She is incredibly much more credulous than anyone I have met. I must make her relieved right now. I smile and let my hand spring open out of my sleeve. It makes her burst into laughter. She can’t stop laughing. I can’t imagine a real princess would act like this. I assume she wants to forget who she is and where she is from.

I must make it up for horrifying her. How about the Wall of Prayers? I hope she will take a fancy to the story about the wall covered with little tablets: During the war, the wall protected a man and his four children from an air raid. Since then, people have continued to come there and whenever their wishes are granted they put up a little plaque. She listens to my story with great interest. The story obviously touches her to the heart. I begin to/come to want to know what she wishes for, so I say to her, “Make a wish.” She says, “The chances of it being granted are very slight.” An air of depression/melancholy appears on her face for the first time. I realize how tough it is to be a princess. She must be bound by rigid customary practices all the time. She hopefully continues, “I’ve heard of a wonderful place for dancing on a boat.” I realize that what she means by that is the barges down by Saint Angelo. She asks Irving and me, “Couldn’t we go over tonight?” “Anything you want,” I’d like to grant her wish from the bottom of my heart. She adds, “At midnight I’ll turn into a pumpkin and drive away in my glass slipper.” That’ll be the end of the fairytale. Tonight would be a once-in-a-lifetime free night for her. I’ll entertain her all out.

Anyway, I can’t wait to see Irving’s pictures of hers! So, I say to him, “Good luck for the big development.”
