Synopsis Recently orphaned Luke Eveshim spends a holiday in a hotel with his grandmother Helga, who taught him a lot about witches. Silent Hill music is entirely appropriate - good call.
Great video! I love the witches, it's my favourite movie of all time. I'm glad someone else also noticed that Luke and his Grandma are isolated from everyone else. No one really interacts with them and they are treated as bad by the hotel manager and Brunos parents. Whereas, ironically the witches get special treatment at the hotel and like you in really well at the hotel.
I kinda like how the Grand High Witch and the Grandma's enmity looks more personal in this version, like the two are arch-enemies rather than Grandma just wanting to take her out 'cause she's the Witch's head honcho. That's a cool angle. I also like that one effect where the lightning flashes to reveal the GHW's true form in the mirror (though something tells me it won't measure up to her true form from the 90s film in terms of sheer terror. The fact that the trailer comes off as so goofy, however, doesn't sit right with me- I haven't read the book myself, at least not yet, but I've heard it's freaking terrifying and also a little depressing. The Grand High Witch making such a rookie villain mistake as loudly announcing HE'LL EXTERMINATE THOSE BRATS! and the weird Chris Rock narration don't mesh well with that.
